Blast From The 1940s Past

Hello all,
I have been seeing 1940s styles both originals & reproductions popping up everywhere lately, so it reminded me of the mass of vintage images that I have accumulated over the last two years. I would like to share them over several blog posts, that others might benefit from them as well. Below are just a few that I thought were lovely. Hope you enjoy & they inspire many beautiful pieces.

God bless to all,
Sarah Grace

Jane Austen Made Me Do It

Hello to everyone,
I hope you have been enjoying the holidays & the lovely snow. I haven't been on in a very long time as we have had the holidays & then I got sick with bronchitis for almost a month, after which I began writing again. For those who don't know, I hope to become a published authoress someday in the future(soon I pray!). There is a short story contest going on at The Republic of Pemberley called the Jane Austen Made Me Do It & I have entered an original short story titled Mary by Sarah Grace Kuhlman, entry number 44. I have been praying earnestly that I would win, as it would show my family & friends that what I want to do with my life is not a waste of my time. Please pray for me that I would have a chance to win the contest. The winner receives $500.00 & their story will be published in the book of the same title as the contest, Jane Austen Made Me Do It. Voting is going on at this time, if you would like to read any of the stories. There are many wonderful Jane Austen inspired plots. My inspiration came after reading Lady Susan, one of Jane Austen's lesser known novels, written in letter form, which is how I wrote mine, in letter form. The site is www.pemberley.com/JAMMDI/JAMMDI.html, if you want to check it out.

The above are some fashion plates from the period that I set my story in & gave me inspiration as to my mental image of my characters.
The dress below was my inspiration for Lady Waldegrave as it is one of the only larger sized Regency dresses that I have had the pleasure to see & seemed like something she might wear.

God bless to everyone. I hope you have a lovely rest of the week,
Sarah Grace
